Description:

Fo Ti (Polygonum multiflorum) is a perennial climbing plant native to China. It belongs to the Knotweed family (Polygonaceae family; also known as the knotweed family or smartweed family) and can grow up to 9-12 feet. The plant has heart-shaped leaves and clusters of small, white or pink flowers. Fo Ti is often found in shady and moist areas along mountains, valleys, and forests. It is widely used in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) to rejuvenate the body, improve vitality, and promote longevity. Fo Ti is commonly used in herbal preparations, such as teas, tinctures, and capsules.

History and Folklore:

Fo Ti has been used in Chinese herbal medicine for over a thousand years. It is believed to possess revitalizing and rejuvenating properties, and it is often associated with the legend of the sage He Shou Wu (the black-haired Mr. He), who allegedly regained his youth and vitality after consuming Fo Ti. Once dried, the roots can be sliced or ground into a fine powder to be used in various herbal preparations.
